About Muffin

1:  I think that many things in life can be vastly improved, if not cured, by laughter.

2:  I am afraid of birds, clowns, fire, cockroaches, people with masks on, and balloons.  I am a little intimidated by mimes, but I can deal with it.

3:  I am fortunate enough to have a job that I love, as a social worker working with people with mental illness and substance abuse issues.  My life is greatly enriched by the people with whom I work.

4:  I used to be skinny, and now I’m not.  It’s unfortunate.

5:  I love words.  I love to read them, listen to them, write them, speak them, and study them.  I think they are fascinating and powerful.

6:  I have a huge extended family – my grandmother was one of 10 children and was very close to her siblings.  I have lots of cousins on both sides of my family, and am fortunate enough to count several of my cousins as some of my closest friends.

7:  I love to sing.  This is unfortunate for those close to me.

8:  I could read from now until the next millennium and would never read all of the books I want to read.

9:  My mother is my best friend.  As such, she possesses the unique qbility to push my buttons in a way that nobody else can.  I can also get a rise out of her, though, so it works out.

10:  I cannot dance.  At all.  Even a little bit.  Not at all.  Not a drop.  Unfortunately, this does not stop me.

11:  I loved the 80′s.

12:  I am in recovery.  This has proven to be one of the greatest blessings in my life, although I never could have predicted that it would work out that way.

13:  I look up to my father more than anyone else.  He is gentle, caring, genuine, loving, and hysterically funny.

14:  I love to organize, alphabetize, and color-code things.  I have very poor time-management skills and a total lack of self-discipline when left to my own devices, so I overcompensate with obsessive-compulsive behavior.

15:  My relationship with Jesus is the defining and single most important thing in my life.

16:  I love toast.

17:  I also love pudding, Dr. Pepper, Target, vacuuming, candles (someone else has to light them – see #2 above), hot chocolate, swimming, nighttime, summer, winter, soup, NCAA basketball, the ocean, Swatch watches, Bath and Body Works, and lots and lots of music.

18:  I am a bit of a grammar snob.  Sorry about that.  My mother was an English teacher, so it osmosed into me without my knowledge.  I just made up the word “osmosed,” though, so sometimes I slip up.

19:  The phrase “quote-unquote” really gets on my nerves, especially when people do that little scrunchy thing with their fingers when they say it.  What does that even mean, really?

20:  There’s not much that’s more fun than a night spent at Target with my cousins.

21:  I get a little creeped out when people whisper – it causes a weird tickly sensation in the ears.  Just go ahead and say it out loud.

22:  I have been engaged previously, but never married.  If marriage works out for me, that will be great.  If it doesn’t, I can’t imagine that life gets any more fun than it is right now, so that’s okay too.

23:  I adore my brother and could not possibly be more proud of him.

24:  I’m pretty sure that my cat, Moses the WonderCat, is at least partly human.  Or at the very least, partly dog.

25:  I am blessed with the most amazing friends I could ever hope to have.  They serve as a continual reminder to me that we often get more than we deserve in this life.

About Moses

1:  I am a cat.

2:  I think that most things in life can be vastly improved by laughter.  Especially when it’s my laughter, and I’m laughing at you.

3:  I think the vacuum is very scary.  Please don’t turn it on.

4:  I like to get in the dryer.

5:  When I can’t get in the dryer, I like to get in the dishwasher.

6:  When I can’t get in the dishwasher, I like to get in the sink.

7:  When I can’t get in the sink, I like to get in a drawer.

8:  Sometimes I can’t get out of the drawer after I get in.  I have to make lots and lots and lots of noise so that Muffin will know that I’m in a drawer.

9:  I got some knots in my fur a couple of months ago, and the groomer had to shave off most of my fur.  The fur on my head, tail, and paws was untouched, and I now look like a schnauzer.

10:  I am, however, NOT a schnauzer.  (See #1 above.)

11:  I’m not “book smart,” so to speak, but I do have good insights about people.

12:  I can fetch and roll over.

13:  I’m really, really soft.  Even without fur.

14:  I have a sister named Tigger.  She’s usually very sweet, but she laughed when I came home furless.  We’re not currently on speaking terms.

15:  Muffin works in a psychiatric hospital, and I live in constant fear that she will bring germs into my home.  I have seen numerous shows on the Discovery Channel about the kinds of germs that can be picked up in hospitals.

16:  Every time people come over to my house, Tigger runs under the bed.  I’m always entertained by that.

17:  I have a dream of one day becoming a surgeon or a professional athlete.

18:  I never knew my father.  I am dealing with this my own way, in my own time.

19:  I prefer for breakfast to be brought to me in my bed.

20:  I love it when Muffin is on the computer and I get to play “chase the cursor.”  Doesn’t get much more fun than that.

21:  I love to ride in the car.  But please, please don’t make me get in the big yellow crate.

22:  I watch a lot of CNN and Fox News.  I consider myself to be an independent and don’t identify exclusively with either political party.

23:  I need to work out more, but it is so difficult to fit it in.

24:  I sleep best when I am laying on Muffin’s abdomen.

25:  I try to never sleep more than 22 hours a day.  You know that saying about “idle paws” and the devil’s workshop…
